Questions and answers
Straight answers to what contractors, developers and designers usually ask us before booking a survey. Each service page has more detailed questions too.
Quotes and booking
How do I get a quote?
Call 07907 669326, email info@gorageo.co.uk or use the quote form. Tell us where the site is, what you need and when, and send any drawings you have.
Do you publish prices?
No. Every site is different: the price depends on the size of the site, the level of detail, the outputs you need, access and timing. We quote each job individually.
How quickly will you get back to me?
As soon as we can. If the job is urgent, say so in your message, or ring 07907 669326 and talk it through with us.
Which areas do you cover?
North Wales, including Gwynedd, Anglesey and Conwy, and the North West of England, including Cheshire and Shropshire. See areas we cover for more detail.
When can I reach you?
Monday to Friday, by phone on 07907 669326 or by email at info@gorageo.co.uk.
What about insurance?
Ask us about insurance when you ask for a quote. If your contract or client needs particular cover, mention it in your enquiry and we'll talk it through.
Data and deliverables
What file formats do you supply?
2D CAD drawings (DWG/DXF), PDFs, 3D surface models, digital terrain models, coordinate schedules and BIM-ready datasets.
For machine control, we supply files for Trimble, Leica and Topcon systems.
If your team uses a CAD template or layer convention, tell us about it when you get in touch and we'll talk it through.
Can you work to our coordinate system?
Yes. Surveys are georeferenced to Ordnance Survey National Grid or to your local site control, whichever your project is designed on.
Can you work directly with our designer?
Yes. We liaise with architects, engineers and designers to check drawings, coordinate systems and formats before work starts, which saves queries on site.
What methods and equipment do you use?
Robotic total stations, GPS/GNSS, 3D laser scanning, drone photogrammetry and machine control systems. We choose the method that suits each site, and often combine them.
Choosing a survey
Which survey do I need for a planning application?
Usually a topographical survey, showing levels, boundaries, buildings, trees and access. If the design involves digging near services, add a PAS 128 utility survey.
We're starting earthworks. What do we need?
A machine control model so your plant digs to design, and volume surveys to track what's been moved and support valuations.
We need foundations, roads or drainage set out.
Site setting out, either as a one-off visit or full project coverage with ongoing site engineering support.
I'm still not sure.
Call 07907 669326 and describe the job. We'll tell you what you need, and just as importantly, what you don't.
Question not answered here?
Ask us directly. A quick call is often the fastest way to work out what your site needs.
